Especially when you start getting into SPS corals, the dosing then becomes a must.

Will this be the case with all salt mixes? I know I do Oceanic salt and keep 480-500 calcium readings with weekly PWC`s. Do SPS corals draw out that much calcium that I would have to supplement?

Yes. Once you have a lot of sps frags and/or colonies you will need to supplement alk and cal. Regular sized normal pwc will not be enough to sustain the demands of a stocked sps tank.

I thought maybe Mike was thinking about getting into SPS. Those VHO lights would work ok. If fact, I think some of my sps looked better when I was running VHO. You just need to put them closer to the top of the tank.
