I'm about to purchase one of these since my tank is in a sunroom. I have the back 3 panels of my hex tank shielded from the windows with a background, but still get some natural sunlight in the front 3 panels.

I'm constantly battling algae-bloom and am pretty sure a UV sterilizer is what I need. I don't have any coral or inverts, so I think I'm safe with getting one.

My question is, will the TurboTwist 3x (9-watts) be enough for my 55-gallon hex? I have a powerhead I plan on using with the UV sterilizer.

Thanks!

How many gph does your powerhead put out. For a UV sterelizer to kill bacteria and algea they say that you need to run 120 gph max thru it.

I got a Coraline TT 3x 9w in myt 75 gal, and it does more than killing the algea :)
Just be sure you use the right gph PH or your UV is just useless.

I plan on using an Aquaclear 402 Powerhead. It outputs 250 GPH, but it has a variable flow control, though I have no idea how to know what output it'll be at. Or, I can put it in reverse flow and it outputs 125 GPH.

Just ordered the Coralife this morning online, praying this will end my green water problems.
