Coraline algae question..

should I start adding calcium to my water now for the coraline algae? My cycle is (I believe) done...and if so, what is the dose to add? what should the levels of calcium be in a 55gal?

You need to get test kits for cal and alkalinity.
I run cal 40-450 and alk - 9-11 and have coraline out the wazoo... When you don't have it you want it and when you have it you have too much
I use b-ionic 2 part system easy to use just follow instructions.
do a search on coraline there are tons of posts on this

will this 2 part stuff keep the ph down? I was thinking about getting the kents stuff they have at petsmart, but don't know what I should get there to help keep the ph down because they only have kent concentrated calcium.

What's your current pH, and why does it need to be kept down? Alkalinity is what helps keep our pH in that 8.2 neighborhood, and calcium and alkalinity have to stay in balance.

You definitely cannot dose either until you have test kits for both and are 100% sure you need to be dosing.
