if i did do corals would this light by sufficient?

If your fixture can handle it go with the 20 watt version, Coralife also make the same type of bulb so keep an eye out for that one too. Yes, that would be a cheap, effective way of lighting that tank.

my canopy says 15 watt maximum, would putting the 20watt in there effect it? with the ten that roughly 5 watts per gallon, isnt that enough?

Do not exceed the max wattage, the 10 will be fine.

10 watts should be enough too, 20 watts would be over 10 watts per gallon! thats a lot lol
