Wow that looks to be like a very comprehensive set. Each volume at 450+ pages with thousands of color images, illistrations and distrabution maps.

I found some additional sources of information and vendors.

The amazon reviews. The aims site even has a few sample pages to show the overall layout.

Thanks Fishfreek, I don't know why it didn't cross my mind to look into the books further online, but now that you tossed these links at me I think I have a pretty good idea what I want for fathers day =)

The amazon search feature is pretty cool. You could just about read the entire book that way. Just go through the table of contents and do a search for something in the TOC and it will give you the results (every other page in that chapter). Click on one page and then read as far as you can and then go back to the search results. You should be able to get a pretty good idea if you like the book based on what you can see by going through that a couple of times.

You'll have to let us know how you like it once you've gotten it for FD.

I'll be sure to dig this post back out once I have gone over the books and give my impressions of it. I need a new book really badly, new reef text is slim picking right now.
