Hello, I just got this in the mail today.
It comes with two optional "LiteStilts" feet like things to raise
the light above the aquarium.

Do I need to install this, or should I just put the rubber feet
on so the light is right above the aquarium.
I have a glass top.

I figured the aquarium would get more light if the system
was right above the aquarium compared to being raised
3" by stilts.

Or will this heat up the glass too much?

PS the people who built it made the wiring too short on one side,
thank heavens it still works after I fixed it.

Night Spirit. Sorry the wires were to short i will call CSL and let them know you had a problem. PM me the details please. Put it on the stilts! The light will not be affected by the 3". I would take the glass off if you can as it cuts the amount of light the penetrates the tank. If you put the lights on the glass you may crack the glass. Thaks again!

I will have to debate about removing the glass top.
On one hand, if I remove it I will have more light penetration,
on the other hand so far I've had almost zero lost evaporation
because of the glass top. Hmmm....

Evaporation is the way water cools itself, if you just upgraded your lights......you'll more than likely want the evaporation

Once again thanks. I'll have to see how my temp does with the hood on.

I tried doing a search, but didn't come up with any info for the following:
Do the actinic bulbs go in the front, in the back, or does it matter?
Right now I have them behind the 10,000k bulbs.

I don't think it matters a whole lot, but I would put the actinics in the front figuring the majority of the rock and corals will be towards the rear I would want the more intense daylights over them. But with a good reflector it shouldn't matter which is where.

Yah they're sweet. With 5 of em and movement from my powerheads
it looks awesome; creates a great shimmering effect.

Right now my tank is still a dirt cloud because I keep slowly aquascaping my LR,
so in a month I'll try moving the bulbs around and look for a difference.

I've got the same lights on my 75 gallon reef. I took off the glass tops and put the stilts on my light fixture. It is better for exchange of gases to have the tops off I am told. I lose about 3/4 gallon of water a day to evaporation.....not that much. I love my lights! I know you will too.....
