There is no problem with trimming my star polyps is there? One of the edges of the star polyps began growing straight up and is beginning to block the view of part of my tank and i want to cut it. This wont spawn an even faster rate of growth will it? It is also beginning to over take some mushrooms, will the mushrooms die off if the star polyps shadow over them and steal their light? or are they capable of finding the light?

It's easy. Just get a box cutter/sharp razor and cut where you don't want the star polyps. The star polyps will take over the tank if not held back and will stop everything from growing.

Great point sqrle! Some aquarium systems become self sustaining because people grow corals and sell the frags for cheap prices. There is always someone somewhere that will be willing to purchase frags.
