Cycling almost complete?
My tank has been cycling for about a month now. I used the fishless method by using raw shrimp to start the cycle. The ammonia climbed and is now at zero. Nitrites are also at zero but the nitrate level is still at 20 ppm and has been for several days now. Why is it still so high? Keep waiting? PWC? Please help.

Yes a PWC will help your nitrate levels

It's time to do a PWC. Make sure to mix your SW up at least 24 hours before you use it. Match the temp and SG of your tank. After you have done your PWC wait a little while to allow the new water to mix in the tank and test for NitrAtes again. 20ppm is not terrible, but 10 or less is much better.
I would do at least a 25% PWC. |
