i have the bak pak skimmer/biofilter on my 15 gallon and a hob filter (whisper up to 30 gallons)

i suggest keeping it or getting a canister filter

fish only or reef

reef you will want a wet/dry filter

fish only the hob filter or canister with the skimmer

it would not hurt

but you dont need the bak pak

make sure there is enought circulation (powerheads)

"the more filtration the better"

If you have liverock you can skp the filter and go with the bak pak IIR or the aqua c remora. Both are good skimmers. If you do not have live rock i would go with the hang on filter and the Bak Pak IIR. The standard bak pak has that bio bale and it just packs full of garbage overtime. The IIR does not have the bale.
