We took the day off Monday and my usual group of fishing buddies the " bow boys" chartered out our favorite boat from where we all work and headed south over the border and had a blast catching yellow tails all day long , the fish were running between 10-25# and we had full limits for every buddy on board ,... Now I mention that for a reason,.. The method we use to catch the yellowtail is called "yo yo fishing"...,it's were you drop down a heavy jig , hit the bottom and then you start reeling very fast for about 30 feet or so ,if you don't get bit you drop back down and do it again ,( normally you'll get hammered within the first few cranks off the bottom ) through out the day my buddies kept coming up to me with little pieces of coral , rocks, sponge looking things ,little kelp encrusted stones complete with serpent stars and other critters which were pulled up from the bottom wanting to know if I needed them for my tank , granted that I was tempted a few times but seeing how the fish were biting and the ice cold iPA's were flowing at the same pace I reluctantly had to pass.
One of these days I'm going to try and establish one of these little coral encrusted rocks into my tank just to see if they'd actually survive the different conditions . All in all it was a well needed and deserved escape from the outside world .
