sorry for all the questions i want too do this right.
what depth of substrate should i have?
i have 1" - 1.5" of caribsea aragonite, should i add live sand too it also?
its for a reef tank, if that makes a difference.

Question is do you want to create a DSB. If so the minimum recommended is 3-4". If you have a reef tank, it is definitely recommended to have a LS bed as it helps with the denitrification process (based on latest research). There is a nifty calculator here (see header) that will allow you to calculate how much sand you need for the DSB based on your tank size. HTH 8)
