Hey I think my deresa clam is growing. Is this new growth?

It appears to be, but is hard to tell from the angle. When you look down at your clam, when the mantle pulls back in is the inside of the shell there along the rim white? If so, it is new growth. It can be pretty easy after awhile to see the new growth as the old shell looks more green/brown where the new is bright white. Like I said, it appears to be growth.

Can you tell us more about it? It is a really nicely colored Derasa. How big is it? How long have you had it?

Yeah the photo is not the best. But yes the mantle is in and that white part is the shell. I am excited as now I can see the white rim of shell above the old greenish part. Nice! Its about 3 or 4 inches now and I have had it about a month. Looks to me like a pretty good bit of new shell for only a month. I actually saw it at Petco and had to rescue it as I knew their lights would not support it for long. Haha
