how do you get rid of a diathom bloom? I put in new lights and now my sand is brown. Does vacuming help?

How long has the tank been up? Should clear up by itself if it's a newer tanks.

I just finished cycling my tank and one day i noticed that it was less noticable and then within a few days it was completely gone. I'm not sure if that is par for the course but that is what happened to me. Good luck.

My tank has been up since October, so it is still fairly new. I didn't have this brown stuff until I added the lights.
