im having this problem too....green cyno on my sand
i havent had a chance to do a water change and i need to get a PO4 tester...
let me know what fixs the issue

Seems like the green stuff forms like a ball under the sand and so when I suck it up, it pulls up a clump of sand. Im going to replace 2 bulbs soon and then 2 later.
Also seems like the sort of red/brown layer gets darker during the day and then lighter at night when the lights are off....very odd

bulbs.. I agree..

the pump on your skimmer might be due for a cleaning/(vinigar soak for the parts) if it hasnt been done in a while.. (I would assume its the mag3 or better if not I would upgrade.. that and the preskimmer box helps them get get at the worst of the scum)
