Dirty Sump ????

What can I add to my sum tp clean it up. I'm getting this left over food looking stuff in it. I know it's not food because I havnt fed in over two weeks but I was wondering If I could add a few hemits etc. to help with the clean up.

IMO, the best thing to do is a water change in your sump. Shut down the system, take out the biomedia and dump the sump. Incoorperate this into your water change schedule and clean it every few months.

i do this and use a wet vac to suck up the dirt particles left at the bottom in the last 1/4 of water. Works well

I do the same thing as Jim. Every few months, pull out the wet vac to suck the junk out of the bottom.

Ok. thanks. this is something I havent see nor heard of but it'a a sound plan. Will do it tomorrow.
