Disappointed in MH....

I just upgraded to 2 20K 250W MH from 4 x 96W PC. Yeah Me, right? I love the intensity and such, but my 20k bulbs are no where near as blue as I was expecting them to be. The look more like my 10K PC color than my buddies 175 w 20ks or another friend's 400w 20ks. Does anyone know why? Is there a break-in period that I must wait for?

New lights make me feel like a newbie again.

It can take a week or 2 for MH lamps to burn into their final color temp. In the mean time, make sure you're allowing any corals or inverts in the tank to slowly acclimate to the more intense light.

The brand is very important. Not all 20K MH bulbs are the same and two brands can acutally have fairly significant visual apperance differeance.
