Do Anemone's kill coral?

I was talking to a friend of mine who has a SW aquarium and he mentioned that if an anemone wanted to take over the location of a coral, it would do so by killing it. Can any of you verify this? Is this a common thing in reef aquariums?

Anemones are not reef creatures, they have a tendency to move around the aquarium stinging your sessile corals as they go. They have a much more potent sting than the corals and in a battle the anemone would almost certainly win.
