Do plate corals split?

I couldn't find any information on this, but I have a really nice aussie orange plate coral. I started noticing a line down the middle of it. This morning I see the coral starting to split down that line, (almost like a breaking apart a cookie). the tentacles are extended and looks healthy.

Keep an eye out for a bubble to form. IDK about plate corals, but other LPS get a bubble to form when they split.
