do starfish molt?

my starfish seems to be losing his skin he seems healthy and very active but his skin is falling off under it i see what looks to be fresh regenerated skin but it is very thin whats up with that?

How long has he been in your tank? Did you drip acclimate him, and for how long? Has he ever been exposed to the air? Also, what are your water parameters?

been in tank for 4 months now drip acclimation for 2 hours give or take 10 minutes and water parameters are 0, 0, 20ppm, 8.3 ph. seem pretty good to me

Its called neucrosis. Its either due to poor acclimation, poor water conditions or lack of natural food.
