Do turbo snails affect ammonia level?

I know the answer is probably "no" but I'm looking for some reason why my ammo level is not dropping.
I've seen both my ammo and trite spikes. Trite and trate have both been steadily dropping but ammo has been an even .2 - .25 for 14 days now. Trite is .025.
The reason I asked about the snail is because he is a pooping machine :? . He'll sleep in one spot for hours and below him will be a huge pile of poop. He is doing an awesome job on my lr but I can't help but think he must be affecting the ammo levels.
Anyone ever see ammo linger on this long (6 weeks) while trite keeps dropping?
I'm starting to get impatient :x

Is this a tank that just finished a cycle? What test kit are you using?

I don't think it has ever finished. I test every few days with Salifert kits. I've never seen 0 ammo. I also brought a water sample to the lfs and they showed the same levels.
