Do we realy need to scrap the LR ?

Hi just wanted to find out from u guys here. When we brought the LR from the LFS, usually many of the ppl will scrap the coralline from the LR .
What is the purpose of doing so ? So that more coralline with grow back ?...... What happens if we do not scrap the LR and let it recycled ?

have never heard of that before unless it is done in the display tank to promote the spreading of coralline.

Yeah, I agree, I wouldn't scrap the LR unless you are trying to spread the coraline
