Does coraline algae grow on your sand bed?

Unfortunately I'm all too familiar with cyano. I'm sure it's not cyano. I'll have to see if I can get a decent pic.

no, I do have spots on my sand that seem to get some coraline like growth, but never stays there, so it either gets burried or turned over from sand sifters....
 
I think it depends on your substrate. If you have crushed coral, then I bet coraline will grow on it. It just needs something to fasten or hold on to. Remember, it's an algae.
