I have a 55 gal I want to setup with overflows. I want some advice on drilling the back of the tank. Is it better to drill low ( option A ) and use a conventional durso standpipe setup or would it be better to drill high
( option B )and have the Standpipes on the outside of the tank.

most drilled tanks are in the bottom...not sure if this setup you have will work
option b definently wont unless you have some type of box on the outside
I personally dont perfer them...just buy an overflow box. In a 55 gal...the drill overflow will take away from your size tank.
You can get a nice overflow with everything for less then $50.
