Ok so i removed the glass lids and put on egg crate will the temp change alot how much more evap is expected it also seems like the egg crate is.creating a shadow is it blocking light any info or help is good.. Maybe i should just leave the glass lids on the tank lol

The evaporation will increase, but that is a good thing. Egg crate is a light diffuser so I would probably crank up the amount of light you have to keep things the same. What lights are you using right now? I have a 29 and in the next couple of months am switching from 150 to 250 MH's.

I have a large square hole cut in the middle of the eggcrate on my tank this way it lets in light and still has a 4" of eggcrate around the border of the tank.
