My wife is a special Ed teacher, so we have considered tanks at school for a while. Real issue is what to do with it in the summer break.

You were put in an awkward situation. You did your best to save the tank. I've accepted that I can't save every fish. We can't stop every uneducated person from putting a pleco in a 5 gallon. Some people simply don't care about their animals and there's not much we can do about it. All we can do is provide the best care for our own pets.

Why not talk to the principal and see if you could take the tank home because of the unfair treatment of the fish.
