I received (what i believe is) a fancy banded serpent star in my LS. Are these good for the tank or will it hurt my DSB by eating too many other things? Also, the tank is not established, still has to go through a cycle so there isnt much for him to eat so i fear he could destroy what i have fairly quickly. Will he live through a cycle (dont know how big it will be with 185 lbs cured lr and 20 ls) and is he good for the tank?

They are good for the tank, they eat detritus and actually will not sift through the sand bed eating beneficial organisms like the sand sifting stars will. If your tank is not cycled yet I would remove him and find a temporary home, most inverts are very sensitive to water conditions.

HTH,
Chris

I had two that came with my LR, pink and brown. They survived my initial cycle with no problem. But to be on the safe side do what Chris said :)
