Feather Duster?

My Feather Duster shell at the tip is cracked. Will this hurt him? Also it seems to have a oval shape when it is closed is that all right.

Also How much sand should I keep on the bottom of him?

a feather duster may bury its tube in the sand, or it may attach itself to rock. Both of mine have attached to rock. Nothing sounds out of the ordinary in its shape..

Anyone know how long it takes a feather duster to regrow his crown? And is there anything I can give him to help him along? Thanks!

It wont take him long. Just leave him alone and let it do it's thing. I think it took mine a few days to get it going.
