Hey guys, I have two mussels in my tank. I know they're filter feeders, but I'm no where near any fish store so I can't buy plankton. However, would it be possible to just chop pieces of meat into very small portions and throw it into the tank? How do you guys feed your shellfish? Would this cause problems with the filter?

Being filter feeders they aren't going to really want meaty foods....you can order phytoplankton online.
You need to feed phyto sparingly too. It can foul a tank quickly if you add to much.
