feeding the crawlers after the algae

i think i need to start feeding my hermits and emerald crab. when i feed my clown now a couple pellets fall to the floor and the hermits freak out. the emerald crab and brittle stars even came out today to see what food was around.
my algae has gone away to pratically nothing and i noticed my sandsifting star has two of his tips chewed on.

two questions. will the star fish regenarate his tips if he is not attacked again?

what should i feed the emarald and hermits to keep them alive and happy ( and not chewing on my starfish )

drop some pieces raw shrimp in there a few times a week that will keep them busy !
