I have been closely monitoring my water quality for the past few months and everything is perfect. HOOORRRAAAYYYY!!! I am trying to get my tank to be more selfsustaining by eliminating manual filtration. I am now down to where I would like it to be.

Skimmer, DSB, 100 lbs LR, refugium. For a 55g reef.

Is this where I am hoping to be, or is this pushing the limits.

Howard

Seems fine to me. Where you would be pushing the limits would be the bioload of the tank.

I have a coral beauty, saddle clown, 3 damsels, lawnmower and yellow tang. All else is inverts, snails, corals, hermies. Keep your fingers xed.

Well your fish load IMO is at its max for the 55. So aside from regular water changes (maybe weekly) and cautious feeding your natural filtration + skimmer should be adiquite.
