Well I have a Birdsnest that has developed white bumps on the tips, kinda like your second photo. I just thought it looked like new growth.

Played around in photoshop with it a bit, didn't alter the color, but cropped it a bit and sharpened it. Maybe this'll show it a little better.

That's good to hear. They're all encrusting now, which I also understand is a good sign. It's so neat. I've been taking pics and playing around all day. My tripod will be here tomorrow, but I've found that pressing the lens against the glass works pretty well for stability. Here are some more I played around with.






Not the best in the world, but leaps and bounds better than my little P&S would do. I'll get it figured out one day.
