Finally caught one!!

Caught this guy in the act of tearing a snail out of its shell. Managed to pin him down and my bro helped me net him out. I've been trying to catch him for a while but I have the feeling that he's not the only one in there. After all the trouble he caused I decided to feed him to my porcupine puffer and clown trigger

How did they eat him? Was it a big fight??

I wish I could have seen that.. I woulda filmed it and played it back to the crabs in my tank so they would "get the message"

LOL

LOL, Actually I did film it, maybe I'll post in on here if I can edit it.

At first the puffer wasn't too interested, I can only ever get him to eat krill. The clown trigger was going crazy trying to rip the legs and claws off. Unfortunately the trigger was a little too small to tear apart the crab so he only got a few legs as the crab kept trying to find a hiding spot. The pocupine eventually took a few more legs and I'm not 100% sure what happened to the rest of him as I went to bed shortly after.....I cannot find the body so they must have finished him somehow.

I think I will show it to the other crabs, maybe it will keep them in line

I should get a trigger to terrorize the crabs in my 55... hehehe

I did get footage on my Mavica of one of my clinging crabs releasing hundreds of little swimmy crab baby things all over the place.. quite weird... I hope I don't have a crab explosion here anytime soon 8O

I've seen a couple of suggestions that look fairly successful.

Use a plastic bag with some food for bait- be sure to move slowly when snagging.

Leave the net in your tank for a day or two- then bait.

I wish I had heard of those earlier before I removed my rock to make it easier- still took a while.
