first aquarium inhabitants

i am in the first week of cycling - no fish. is there anything i can or should put in during the process? ie. shrimp, crabs, snails? thanks!

No, the tank needs to fininsh it's cycle before life can be added. Once NH3 and NO2 read undetectable then the tank can properly support the animals you mentioned.

Add a couple damsels and pull them after cycling. It's fun to see some kind of movement for 6-8 weeks.
