Hello everyone this is my first ever fish tank and im looking for some advice to starting. So far i have my tank which is a 80 gallon tank, I have a emperor 400 filter, a heater and thats it. Will i need a skimmer? What other things do i need? Any help is apreciated thank you.

Conscientous Marine Aquarist, by Robert Fenner. Read that, then throw in the article from this page on fishless cycling.
It's better to read a bit before you ask questions IMO. Better questions that way.
I've noticed around here that some will walk you thru the setup and requirements, but most will help you even further when you've done SOME of the research on your own.

Ray's suggestion of that book should be your next purchase. More info would help us out...what type of tank are interested in having? FO, FOWLR, Reef? Type of substrate? Live rock? A skimmer is beneficial in any tank.
