Fish eating other fish/shrimps...

I'm just wondering, is it a general rule that if a fish can fit in another fish's mouth, then it'll eat it if it's particularly hungry?

Does the same apply to cleaner shrimps?

Just thinking if a Regal Tang or Yellow Longnosed Butterfly would eat a smallish Clown or cleaner shrimp...

I would say when the fish have oppotunity rather then its particular hungry.

As for cleaner, then it's depend whether the bigger fish reconiser it or not.

Hara: Yep, Tangs are Herbivores. But I figured seeing as they'll eat brineshrimp if it's chucked in with their diet (apparently), then perhaps they'll fancy a bit of live shrimp too?? :p

So, only carnivorous, predatory fishes (Triggers, Lions, etc.) will eat other fish/shrimp?

Carnivores and omnivores will generally all eat fish and shrimp if they can and the situation presents itself. Herbivores will eat meaty items if its mixed with their food as they lack the items required to separate them. IE, fingers, a fork, and the pure determination not to eat the mushrooms in my spaghetti : ) But they won't actively hunt them down.
