Flashlight leanse color for night hunting/exploration

While the reef comes alive at night has anybody experimented on the best shade of color lens for flashlight spotting as not to scare them critters that abound on the reef at night. Is it Blue?, Red?, Yellow? Green? ETC.

red worked well for me...but so did one that the battery was dying and the white light was really dim..
