Flat rock crab...Mates?

Had a hijacker that was a flat rock crab aka sally lightfoot... hes been in the tank for 4 months now. Only have one fish...a tang and cleaner shrimp and urchins... Come home tonight to find my crab being ate by the shrimp and was disappointed. Then to my surprise he came out of the rock he hides in and I discovered there was two of the same crab, one now dead. Do they kill after they mate? Nothing new has been added and nothing fights in the tank. All my levels are ok... any ideas?

Are you sure he was dead? Very well could have been that he molted and got a new shell.

No it was definately a whole crab. My shrimp had a hold of him and was eating him. He had the crab torn apart and we could see that he had insides, cause that is what i thought too, the he had shed like my shrimp. Thanks for the input though... ill have to remember that for future uses.
