I have a HOB filter that im running with my skimmer. Ive taking off the bio-whell and fliter pad and just running a bag of carbon......question is the overflow where the water comes back into the tank is making a lot of bubbles when it hits the water surface....will this cause any problems.?????

Bubbles will be more annoying to you than most things in the tank. Micro bubbles can hinder corals and irritate them occasionally causing them to close up but I have never agreed they will actually cause permanent damage. Reef systems in the wild are lousy with them.

If the water level is that far below the return of the HOB, raising the water level if possible will be the easiest way to fix that.

Cheers
Steve
