Florida fighting conch

So I just watched my FFC FLIP a snail shell and rip the snail (tiger) out of it. It was either dead or dying. Unusual?
 
I assumed as much. The 4 inch barbed samurai blade it flipped out made me question the aggressiveness though...lol
 
Attached to their foot. Mine uses his as a fulcrum to leverage and lift himself over rocks lol. It's pretty nasty looking though
 
Wow, your conch's shell looks so nice. Mine is gray and purple (purple being algae). I like that shell a lot.
 
That's not a blade, it's their operculum. It basically acts as a trapdoor that they use to protect themselves when they pull back into their shell. It's not sharp and not used for anything other than protection and moving around.
