Hey all, im currently running an Aqueon filter on my 38 gallon (cycling) saltwater tank. just want to know if this is a good practice (since it has activated carbon in it). Is it bad? How many of you guys use a regular filter in your tanks?

I use aqua clear filter HOB on my nano it is rated at 50 gallons but it is in an eight gallon tank. Right now it has rubble and chem pure in it. There are several mods I have seen with HOB filters.

I use Fluvials. I have a 55 and 125, but I don't run carbon....I also keep a low boiload.

I use an aquaclear 30 on my 10g nano. I stuffed it with the little porcelain beads to do the same work as rubble.

Most filters made today can be used in either FW and SW. I bought a penguin 200b for my QT and it worked great.
