Fuges

Ok, I am ordering a sump/fuge rated for a 250g tank (but it only holds 30g of water) to replace my wet dry next week. Anyone noticed any differences in nitrate and phosphate readings. My nitrates are at 10ppm and my phos is at .025, so I am pretty good now, but just wondering for the future. Anyone swear by fuges? Just tring to weigh the difference between this and a nitrate filter.

I have a fuge on both of my tanks and they are great. I have a 15 gal tall on my 125 and my NO3 is at 0 most of the time and it also helps with pod production for my mandarin.
On my 55 fowlr my NO3 would be through the rood w/out the fuge, I have a SFE and DF Puffer with 6 other fish so my bio load is high and the fuge keeps it in check around a 5-10 most of the time. After 2 months w/out a water change it goes up.
I like having the fuge separate from the sump...This is just me..

I use a very small fuge but still saw my water quality improve after adding some cheato. Tons of pods for Coral feedings is never a bad thing either. Go for it!

Sorry, I meant Chaeto. It is a macroalgae that grows in clumps and is a great nutrient absorbent and pod haven.

It depends on where you live. I couldn't get any in VA so I ordered from Ebay.

I got several (cheato/grape/ Prolifera) from eBay and can see visible growth already (about a week).
