Good pump for a skimmer

I'm getting an EV-240 from AquaC and I'm shopping for a pump right now. It has some recommended pumps, like the SEN900, the MAG12, etc... I'm looking to get the best pressure, highest reliability, quietest pump for the money. I was thinking of getting a MAG12.. since they are around 80 bucks. The SEN pumps just don't look high quality to me.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks,
Micah

You might look at an ehiem pump rated for the same GPH of the mag 12, the mag 12 is a good pump, but they are not the quietest.

The Mag 12 will do fine. You might look at Dolphin pumps as well. Are you going to have this skimmer in the sump or run it externally? If you are going to have it external, you might want to look at an external pump. They last longer, are quieter, and contribute less heat to the system than the submersibles. I would recommend a Blueline 30HD or equivalent for the EV-240. Make sure, if you do check into an external pump, that you look only at the pressure rated models. The pumps rated for circulation only will not do as good a job with a skimmer.
