I have some sort of green algae growing on my brown star polyps. I am curious to see what kind of algae it is, if it is harmful to my coral, and how to get rid of it if it is. The algae waves in the current. Sorry I can't give more info but that is all I can really tell from it. PLEASE HELP!!!

Thanks,
Josh

Sounds like green hair algae. You should attempt to remove it from you polyps with a small round plastic bristle brush, sick it in the alae, twist and pull it out. Be carefull not to yank up the srtar polyps with it. Once you get rid of it, you should use a turkey baster to blow the plyps off, the mat traps detritus which then grows the algae.
