Green allege

I am trying to grow green allege (for my yellow tang and coral beauty) in my spare salt tank and no matter what I do I can't get it to grow. I have the filter at its minium flow, I have a plant hood light and Grow bulb aimed at the tank. I also add small amount of food to the thank to keep the nitrites and nitrates in the tank. The tank perimeters are all at great levels but still it won't grow. What Am I Doing Wrong Please Help

They may be trying to grow macro algae.

You probably need more intense lighting. These are not ordinary plants. They need strong lighting. I had trouble growing macroalgae until I used metal halides. Macroalgae grows furiously under MH.
