Green hair algae growing on pipe organ

I have or spot where green hair algae is growing in my tank. It hasn't spread any over the last three weeks but it isn't going away either. Can I cut it off with scissors or is there a good way to get it off?

You can cut it off or gently pull it out. Just make sure you get any floaters out to prevent it from spreading.

I scrub off with a toothbrush, and have someoen holding a siphon right next to it to catch the debris.
