Green star polyp

my green star polyp has partially opened as of yeasterday. I have had it for three months. It has always looked perfect until yeasterday. I happened to notice these worms on the rock containing the star polyp. Could they be they be irritating the polyps or is this coincidental?

My GSP do the same thing every few months. This usually followed by an enormous growth spurt. I have no idea if it's normal, natural, or a problem. It usually lasts 3 - 4 days.
