Growing SPS under PC bulbs?

Hey gang.

I really like the coralife lunarlights fixture, but I also want to try to grow some SPS down the road. is this enough light? or should I break down and buy a MH pendant. I really dont want to spend twice as much on my lighting, and I really want the moonlights.

help me out here!

-Matt

I grow some species of SPS under my CF fixture. They are doing great. But...IMO, go for the MH fixture. You will open up many more options of SPS corals that you could keep. You, like me, will just end up kicking yourself for not going with MH first. If my tank was not such an odd size I would have gotten them long ago.

can you recommend a fixture?

I heard the 250w PFO with e ballast and a 14k phonex bulb was awsome. but its also awsomely expensive.

also, any links to some places where i can find some info on modding a pendant to add moonlights?

thanks!

Spend the money on MH. You can easily do a DIY moonlight for under $20.
