Hi. I have been trying to catch a crab from my reef aquarium for a few days now, well last night I finally caught him. His pincers are quite big and he is a hairy crab.

Can anyone tell me whether he is guy or a nasty villain.

Looks like it could be a gorilla crab, if it is it's a fish killer. I would not put it back in the main display tank, if you have a sump and you want to keep him I'd put him there.

Thanks for the help guys. I will Google it. I have lost 2 hammers and a torch recently, could the crab have done it?

Iv always wondered this I may sound stupid but if you have all these shrimps and crabs in the sump do you feed the sump or will they survive? Sorry if I hijacked

I don't buy anything that isn't reef safe, so the only thing that makes it to my sump is hitch hikers. Usually just crabs and maybe fireworms. The worms will eat detritus and the crab will eat some algae, and then maybe the worm. I don't add food.

Must have been a hitchicker. I haven't purchased any crabs.
