could you use outdoor halogen floodlights
i saw a 300 watt floodlight (outdoor) and was interested
will halogen give off the wrong type of wavelength(too yellow)

Halogen isn't as efficient as MH or fluorescent. And the spectrum is rather on the yellow/red side.

Correct. Halogen's don't put out a spectrum that's suitable for corals or algae...it puts off as much heat as metal halide, adn the color of the light is too yellow.

Its too bad too, cuz a $10 500watt halogen worklight would solve so many lighting issues for us!
