Has anyone tried Marc Weiss Reef Vital DNA ?

I went to the lfs and was talking with the manager about reef additives. He tried to sell me Marc Weiss Reef Vital DNA. It was like $30 for a 16oz bottle (I thi9nk it was 16oz). I was just curious if anyone has used this and what the pros and cons were on this? Right now I have a 75 gal reef wish just a couple of fish (in qt right now) and some crabs and snails. 50 lbs of live rock.

This is the main problem with most reef additives. They are just too exspensive to be worth it.

What do you need a reef suppliment for right now? There is really nothing in your tank that will benefit from it. Is there something speciffically that you are wanting to add? Depending on the water you are using, some people will need to dose a CA/ALK solution to keep levels up, this is only really needed for certain corals though. Honestly, 95% of reef additives are a scam. You can replace all of the essential trace elements by doing regular and frequent water changes with a good quality salt.

Some people are like slinkies...they serve no real purpose yet can still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs!:p
Have a great day! Brian

Never add any supplements without testing for them first. If you don't need it, don't add it.
30 gal standard 55 lbs LR, 60 lb live sand, 10 gal sump/refugium. Urchin skimmer, mag7 pump, 3 x 96W PC combination 10,000K/actinic bulb, 2 blue LED moonlights
SG 1.024, temp 79.5, pH 8.4

Livestock I added:

1 skunk cleaner. 12 hermits: red, scarlet, blue. 15 or so assorted snails. Discosomas, Ricordia, Rhodactis mushroom corals, chaetomorpha (sump), 1 feather duster, Montipora digitata, Montipora capricornis, Montipora hispids. assorted zoos, Xenia, Kenya tree coral, green Sinularia, green star polyps, branching hammer coral, bubble coral, Devil's hand leather. Yellow chromis, purple firefish.

Hitchhikers: the usual suspects :crabs, bristles, urchin, mantis shrimp (now in exile in mantis tank)

List of possible/likely newcomers:

Feather duster. PJ cardinal, Bangghai cardinal, Firefish goby, Clownfish, Neon goby, Yellow watchman goby, Orchid dottyback. Various corals.
